I’ve built a variety of web systems in the last decade, most of these developments were back-end developments and Services integrations – hence I can unfortunately not display them here.
I was Technical Director/Senior Developer at an international Web Development/SEM company based in Cape town. My duties varied from supervisory/consultancy, Systems design to the actual development of mission critical systems, mostly for the UK market. During this time I was also teaching Javascript after hours to 3rd year students at a Cape town college… and doing things like renovating my house!
Below are a few projects I’ve worked on – for some of these I’m still actively doing maintenance work.

This is a mission critical website with 300+ pages built for the micro loans industry in the UK. The system had to be modeled around the existing Search Engine indexing – hence retaining existing URLs by mapping to the new architecture using the Zend Framework – hence I had to alter the ZF router to handle existing URLs and also handle custom 301 and 404 redirects with automated email notifications to the SEO team. The system also uses extensive tracking and logging of loan leads to a central database.

This was a large Magento development for this UK Publisher, with approx 24000 Book, CD and DVD products. We had to build various custom back-end and front-end extensions and also had to do a full data migration from X-Cart which included products, categories, orders, users etc. The standard front-end template/layout system was also re-modeled completely to accommodate a bespoke designed template. The sipping rules could not be set up via any existing extension and I ended up developing a fuzzy logic solution for this.

This was an extensive mobile development. We developed this site with the Netbiscuits API as the front-end layer and PHP5 OO as the the application layer, the application layer had to communicate with the Metro API to pull real time news articles.
In addition it also interfaced with the live football scores service to display things like match times, results with full drill-down capabilities as deep as club and player information and much more.

This was a Sugar CRM installation with custom middleware development to facilitate the synchronization of data between the client’s POS systems. In addition we also had to do extensive data imports for users, invoices and products. I’ve been involved as a technical project manager as we outsourced all development to a US company. We also facilitated full end-user training.

This was a fairly large customization of the existing Oscommerce shopping cart installation. I had to implement a custom theme and also had to alter various existing modules.

This is a pet project of mine which I started in 2009.
Even though MVC development on the Zend Framework is already fast, there are some areas that can be more intuitive and humanized, this is where the Utilities package acts as an intermediate layer.
It automates functionality such as dynamic clients-side form validation, Ajax form and widget handlers, dynamic loading of templates and fragments which doesn’t have to be based on view script directories, built-in advanced datagrids and much more.
This package is production ready and has been successfully deployed on many websites.
